Mt. Olympus In Melancholy Spring - a photo on Flickriver

            Mount Olympus —still snow-capped in April— is viewed across the Aegean Sea whilst wild flowers are in full blossom. A rowing boat is rusting on the seafront, as no-one is allowed to use it any longer. Deep scars of melancholy isolation are illustrated as dark shadows. The shot was captured during a brief dog walk in Kalamaria, Greece, during the imposed, compulsory lockdown, enforced in spring of 2020. This notorious spring was imbued with gloom, sadness, misery, sorrow and dolefulness:

The spring of 2020 will forever be remembered as a season scarred by deserted outdoors, social distancing, loneliness, melancholy and grief. People were coerced into “staying at home” by manipulation of their fear. The mass media succeeded in making a mountain out of a molehill, by exaggerating or overstating the deaths attributable to the Covid-19 pandemic. Post mortem examinations were forbidden on bodies suspected to host the coronavirus; of course, the lack of investigating the true, evidence-based causes of death resulted into a magnified number of deaths attributed to Covid-19. Since fear of dying is all natural to humans, society succumbed to Emotion (Fear of pestilence), instead of listening to the voice of scientists attempting to reason that more moderate measures could be effective.

No matter how melancholic this spring is, nonetheless it still reminds us that Life will prevail. Life always does; it always finds a way.
