Little boy in very formal clothes - 1850s

            This is an ambrotype. I don't know whether it was taken before or after the Wilson family arrived in Australia. By 1857 a photographer named Elsbee had set up a photographic studio in Nicholas Street in Ipswich so perhaps the family favoured him with a visit to obtain a couple of ambrotypes. It is set in the same mount as the one of a mother and child.
If this timing is correct then the child would be George Rennie Wilson, aged 5.
