ENGINEERS' MEMORIAL GATES

Official Opening This Morning

Members of the Engineers, Signals, Tunnellers, and Railway Units' Association will assemble in Albert Square at 8.50 a.m. to-day, and will march at 9 o'clock (o the Memorial Chamber at Anzac Square, where the Governor (Sir Leslie Wilson) will unveil the Memorial Gates at 9.30. The parade, in charge of Lieutenant-Colonel Grant, will be led by the Brisbane Scottish band, and will consist of a guard and two officers and 40 men from the Militia Units of the Royal Australian Engineers and Australian Corps of Signals. His Excellency will enter Anzac Square from Adelaide Street, and will be met by Colonel D. E. Evans and the president of the association (Mr. J. Nicholson). The members of the association will take up their position in fours in the subway in the vicinity of the memorial gates, and will remain in that position until Sir Leslie's departure. The opening address will be given by Colonel Evans, and Major N. O'Brien will welcome the Governor. The formal opening of the gates will be performed by his Excellency, while the Rev. Norman Millar will dedicate them. Bugler Sergeant P. W. Higgins will then sound The Last Post. Major N. O'Brien will he Marshal and will be assisted by Mr. Monty Bloom (honorary secretary). At 2.15 p.m. the company again will parade at the top of Albert Street. and will receive the colours of the unit from Mr. Bloom.
