            In an oasis of peace and in a beautiful rural setting is stately mansion Verwolde, which is the center of an elegant estate in Laren. The house and garden are in the hands of foundation Geldersch Landscape and Geldersche airconditioned and is from April to late October open to the public. The house was built in 1776, designed by architect Philip William Schonk. The strictly symmetrical facade with stone entrance and triangular crown (pediment), are distinct features of the neoclassical style. The house is stylishly decorated in the atmosphere of time of the former inhabitants. Around the house is a beautiful French-style garden, with geometric shapes. It was designed by landscape architect Hugo Poortman and dates from 1926. Garden extends into a landscaped park, which is surrounded by an ancient moat. In the garden there is also a beautiful orangery and a koetshuis.In the former kitchen of the castle is a tearoom located. Behind the house Velhorst the garden, the orchard and the broeihof pleasing to the eye. Here the rich garden history kept alive with the help of volunteers. The estate authentic farmhouses with painted shutters, hedgerows, orchards and flowery meadows. Broeihof and orchard are open every Thursday from 10:00 to 16:00.
