Faded beauty

            The silver case for this old pocket watch would have been sold for its scrap value years ago, but not by me.  I've only ever known it in this state and I still think it's pretty.  I bet someone was very proud of it once.  The Chrysanthemums in the background are now past their best and beginning to curl at the edges, but I don't hold that against them.  :)

For this week's Macro Mondays group theme, Wabi-sabi.  The pocket watch face is 1¼" in diameter.

If, like me, you were unfamiliar with the term 'wabi-sabi' before seeing this, here's part of the explanation we were given:

"Wabi-sabi is a Japanese word roughly translating as 'imperfect aged beauty'. It is used to describe a particular philosophy that beauty can be found in the old, the everyday, the imperfect, broken and decaying subjects."
