Die Propyläen am Münchener Königsplatz: Ihr Name bezieht sich auf die „Propylaia“, den Vorbau am Aufgang zur Akropolis im antiken Athen. Auftraggeber dieses klassizistischen Bauwerks war König Ludwig I. Errichtet wurde der Bau in den Jahren von 1846 bis 1862 von Leo von Klenze.

The Propylaea at Munich’s Königsplatz: Its name refers to the “Propylaia”, the porch at the entrance to the Acropolis in ancient Athens. This neoclassical building was commissioned by King Ludwig I. The building was erected between 1846 and 1862 by Leo von Klenze.
