Gatwick variety in the 1980s 😎

Another busy day at London Gatwick
Whilst the range of civilian aircraft at London Gatwick in the 1980s was huge, military transports were far thinner on the ground. Royal Canadian Air Force CC-137s and C-130s apart, there were thin pickings. But on occasion, we were treated to something exotic, and this was just such a day. After arriving on the previous Thursday, here we see Nigerian Air Force Lockheed C-130 Hercules 911 about to depart on runway 26. Just to add to the variety, a Britannia Airways Boeing 767 is about to touch down, and a British Caledonian BAC 1-11 is heading for a long take-off, completing the composition. Apologies for the June heat-haze!

NAF911 (c/n 4624) Nigerian A/F Lockheed C-130H arrived on 27/06/1985 [which was a Thursday] but didn't depart until the early afternoon on the Saturday 29/06/1985.
