PK-GSF Boeing 747-2U3B of Garuda Indonesian Airways making a rare visit to London Heathrow

The Boeing Collection - a tribute to the Boeing 747 'Queen of the Skies'
From a collection of some 500 Boeing slides that I've had scanned from my archives. Hope they will provide some enjoyment and nostalgia from a bygone age.

Gatwick Diversions 😎😻
The sheer size of the 747 Jumbo Jet :)
Possibly the only time I ever saw a Garuda Indonesian 747 at Heathrow! probably a Gatwick diversion. PK-GSF is seen here taxiing for a runway 28L departure on a typically overcast day at London Heathrow, making a fine sight, as the airline used London Gatwick almost exclusively for their flights. The eagle-eyed amongst you will also see an Icelandair 727, Alitalia DC-9 and a Swiss Citation :)

PK-GSF 'City of Denpasar' c/n 22769 - Boeing 747-2U3B - delivered new to Garuda Indonesian Airways in May 1982, and one of six Boeing 747-200s delivered to the airline in the early 1980s. The aircraft flew with Garuda for over 16 years, from 1982 to 1998, before being sold back to the USA with Triton Leasing as N106TR and converted to a pure freighter. It was then leased out to Polar Air Cargo, Atlas Air and Tradewinds as N923FT, before ending up with Star Airlines (Macedonia) as Z3-CAA in 2008. Apparently, the aircraft is still flying!
