Red Kite - Twist and Pounce - a photo on Flickriver

            A big powerful bird of prey., but with the agility to change direction., swoop and dive almost before you have time to focus your camera

This asymmetrical wing alignment gives just a hint of how they do it and it's far more pronounced here on this Kite than I've seen on other raptors of a similar size

Eagles., Buzzards., larger Harriers etc., all tend to 'line-up' their prey and dive in., whereas the Kite can change direction in an instant which is spectacular to watch., and also makes it a very effective and fearsome hunter
