Salvation Mountain - a photo on Flickriver

Salvation Mountain

            April 9, 2012: Artist Leonard Knight created Salvation Mountain between 1989 and 2011. Located near the Salton Sea, Knight began work at the site in 1984. The first version collapsed in 1989. Undeterred, Knight built the current version of Salvation Mountain. In 2011, Knight entered a long-term care facility, ending his work on the site. He passed away in 2014. Currently, a small group of volunteers maintains Salvation Mountain. Their website reports Salvation Mountain is open but with Covid-19 restrictions. #salvationmountain
