The Wright-Scott House in Hull (Gatineau), Quebec

            The Wright-Scott House in Hull (Gatineau), Quebec, Canada. 

It was built between 1875-1877 for Philemon (Ephraim) Wright III, the 
grandson of Philemon Wright (1760-1839), the founder of Hull and a lumber baron who originated from the United States. It was subsequently expanded between 1924-1925, and again between 1946-1947. 

Members of the Wright family who resided here include Nancy Louisa Wright and her husband John Scott, the first Mayor of ByTown, which eventually became known as Ottawa. 

The descendants of Philemon Wright remained its owner until 1964. In 1979, the owners at the time sought a permit to have it demolished to make room for 20 new houses on its grounds. 

Thankfully, due to protests from Hull residents and heritage organizations, the permit was declined. 

Depending on what website one visits, its date of construction varies, which is very disconcerting. 1852 has also been mentioned as its year of construction, but that year coincides with Philemon Wright's original grand house made of wood and not of stone. The original house, built in 1818, was destroyed in a fire in 1849.
