About the experience and photography.
This is the second crater that errupted on Fimmvörðuháls. There wrere limitations on how close you could get to it. 100-200m I think so you could feel the hot ash coming down on you and feel the power and the heat of the magma spitting monster in front of you. The spew reached high altitude, probably 70-100 m in the air and you could see the biggest spatter hardening in the air.
A brutal exploding bass could be heard from it which spiced the experience up quite a bit.
