Kynance Cove - a photo on Flickriver

Kynance Cove

            As I sit here at home looking out at grey skies and rain pouring down beyond the window I think wistfully of a warm and pleasant memory of last summer. So I thought I would dig out an old image taken at this time a year ago. 

This is Kynance Cove, the most southerly point of England, located at a place called the Lizard. On this day last August the weather felt more Mediterranean heatwave than British summertime and the popularity of the seaside location reflected that. Not what I was looking for but I couldn’t blame the crowds for wanting to find somewhere to chill. 

This is not an original image by any means and you may well have seen shots from this very viewpoint before. Given the choice I would be here for a winter sunset with the light fading to the southwest of an evening. But instead this is a panoramic image shot during the height of the day with strong contrast and strong colours. 

So not the ideal conditions for a landscape image but it was a delightfully bright and sunny day which I just wish I could say the same of today. Alas!
