            From this weekend's film recording, Rikssamling year 872 at Bronseplassen, Norway. 
The Viking Age in Norway is archeologically calculated from approx. 800 to approx. 1050. Historically, it is more specific from the attack on Lindisfarne in 793 to the Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066.
Although the first Viking attack in England took place in Portland in 789, it is with the looting of the monastery at Lindisfarne in 793 that the Vikings really appear in European history. The level of production increased in agriculture because the iron was used and there was a shortage of arable land. Many chose to emigrate and the easiest way to earn an income was often looting. The Vikings quickly gained a bad reputation among contemporary Christian Europeans. But the Viking Age was also marked by trade, not only in Europe, but also with, among others, the Byzantine Empire and the Baghdad caliphate.
The National Assembly was also a reason for the strong emigration. The power of the kings increased, and they demanded taxes and fees. Many would rather try their luck abroad than live in one kingdom.
Norwegian Vikings were most active in the north and west roads. New areas were built north of the Norwegian coast, west to Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Shetland, the Orkney Islands, Scotland and Ireland. Later also Greenland and Vinland (America).
