            Rolling through the Madeline Plains at 20 mph due to deferred maintenance, an EUCHQ highballs Termo, California on the Modoc Line. Less than a month before Union Pacific took over Southern Pacific, the power on this lumber drag reflected the overall state of affairs on the railroad. Forest fires to the west added patina to the otherwise clear skies.
