Along the Sound near Steilacoom - a photo on Flickriver

            On Labor Day weekend 1979, Amtrak's Mount Rainier rolls south near Steilacoom, Washington. The train was loaded with around 800 unhappy Seattle Seahawks fans, who had just watched the San Diego Chargers smash their team 33-16 in the NFL season opener. This was the first time I ever rode on passenger equipment built for Amtrak. Our train consisted of a dozen brand new Superliner cars.
