Rupestra Over the Hill - a photo on Flickriver

            Wild female Puma (Puma concolor) was hunkered down near a herd of Guanaco for over an hour. They had spotted her but she didn’t care. She wanted to stay close as night came and the advantage turned in her favor. Then a “famous photographer” decided he needed to get closer and get a clearer view of her. He got between the cat and the Guanaco - and she got up and trotted over the hill. Big shot left the scene. Our guides told us to sit tight as they anticipated she would return to the Guanaco as night fell. They were right! They call her “Rupestra” - “rupestre” is Spanish for wall art/cave paintings. This cat was born in a cave with these paintings on the walls.
