After three weeks of having no camera I finally got out shooting again on Thursday. This is very much a test shot - I feel like I'm starting again, having to learn again. This is a 3 shot vertorama taken with a 24mm PC/E lens on my replacement D700. I've always wanted an PC/E but with a cropped sensor of my D300 it didn't really make sense, but now I've gone full frame - well it was the first thing on my kit list.

So why am I starting again, well its a new camera for me, but in operation its not hugely different to my old D300. No its the PC/E which is the difference - and particular one aspect. I'm ashamed to say but I have never manually focussed in my life - never found the need to, even with night shots I'd shine a torch at what I wanted to focus on, or wander ahead and put a lantern down and focus on that - how embarrassing, but now I have no choice, so I need to practice and practice and practice - but actually looking forward to taking more control. Oh and there's the whole tilt and shift to learn too - and knowing how much shift to apply

As for the shot - its of the new cable (Emirates Airline to give it its proper name) car across the Thames from here at Royal Docks over to the O2 south of the river. Its a great journey 5 minutes across - with spectacular views across east London including the Dome and Canary Wharf - and only £3.20 one way - a bargain when you consider the cost to head upo the Shard.
