            Sad to say, but this neglected building stands less than one city block from our beautiful State House grounds and is directly across the street from gleaming new office towers. It has beautiful ornate wrought iron and wood carvings on the facade in the French Victorian Style. . A new upscale gift shop has opened next door in a renovated space, so hopefully this building will be restored and not torn down.
Built in 1870's, the building is named The Brennan Building and is the former site of the once popular Capital Cafe.

Update the Brennen Building is now owned by First Citizens Bank. They have announced plans to remodel the building for a new purpose. They are working with preservationists to adhere to the building's original charm.
