ACE photographer Shoesmith (pjs,1208)

            Peter took this picture of 35002 Union Castle working the Atlantic Coast Express, the view is at Exmouth Junction. The ACE linked London with North Cornwall, the last ACE ran from Padstow on 5th September 1964.
35002 was built at Eastleigh Works as 21C2, it was a Merchant Navy class designed by O.V. Bullied, it entered traffic in June 1941. The loco was an Exmouth Junction based machine when Peter took this picture. The loco was withdrawn 23/02/1964 and was scrapped in December of that year.
