The Peace Tree Memorial, Blakenall, Walsall 03/11/2019

            As we enter the season of Remembrance, this is the Peace Tree Memorial at Blakenall. Following the end of the Great War many towns and cities in the UK chose to plant trees as a living memorial to local people who fought in the war. This particular tree (see in the background, draped in poppies) and its accompanying memorial is located in Blakenall Village. The memorial is a more recent addition, the tree itself was planted on 19th July 1919.
