The Avion, Aldridge, Walsall 01/02/2015

            Another JD Wetherspoon pub, this time the Avion in Aldridge near Walsall.

This former cinema first opened it's doors to entertain the folks of Aldridge on the 26th September 1938, apparently the opening ceremony was attended by no less an entertainer than George Formby.

The building's days as a cinema came to an end on December 30th 1967, however, like so many buildings of this type it lived on as a bingo hall for many years to follow. Final closure came in 2009, but fortunately this impressive Art Deco building was converted into a pub by Weatherspoon's.
