FONDATION CLAUDE MONET A GIVERNY - a photo on Flickriver

            Promenade dans le jardin d'eau :
Monet a toujours été fasciné par les jeux de lumière et les reflets des nuages sur l’eau. Ses nombreuses toiles peintes sur son atelier flottant, à Argenteuil ou sur les canaux de Hollande, montrent sa fascination pour les reflets renversés dans ces miroirs liquides.
 En 1893, il fait l’acquisition d’un terrain situé au fond du Clos Normand, de l’autre côté de la voie de chemin de fer, et détourne le petit bras de l’Epte, le Ru. L’étang ainsi créé deviendra le « jardin d’eau », aujourd’hui présent sur les cimaises des plus grands musées du monde.
Monet était si fier de son jardin d’eau, qu’il aimait y recevoir ses invités et passait des heures à le contempler. Un jardinier était chargé de son entretien à temps plein, et supprimait chaque feuille morte pour qu’il reste d’une beauté parfaite.
