Söderåsen

            Söderåsen is a bedrock and national park in northwestern Skåne, in the municipalities of Bjuv, Klippan, Svalöv and Åstorp. On Söderåsen is Skåne's highest point: 212 m above sea level. The ridge stretches from Röstånga in the southeast to Åstorp in the northwest. Skåne's highest church village, Stenestad, is located in the middle of the ridge, 180 meters above sea level.

Along the steep northeast slope there are canyon-like valleys such as Skäralid and Klöva halls. Peat forest dominates in the valleys and along the slopes of the ridge. Natural pastures with heather moors and dry meadows together with marshes and moss fields contribute to a varied landscape. Several nature areas on Söderåsen are protected, in addition to the national park also the nature reserves Hjorthagen Wrams Gunnarstorp, Klöva hallar, Åvarp, Åvarps fälad, Hallabäckens dalgång, Traneröds bog and Nackarp. Just north of the national park is the hiking area Klåveröd. Skåneleden (the section Ås to åsleden) and Söderåsleden follow Söderåsen all the way from Åstorp to Röstånga. On Söderåsen's southern slopes are the two hiking areas Finnstorp and Smedjebacken. Outside Stenestad is the park facility Stenestad park.

The name was written in 1505 Sønderaas and has been given by the inhabitants of Norra and Södra Åsbo districts north of the ridge. [2]
