GWR loco No. 3824 @ Swindon Works c1961

            An old amateur photograph (just 2" x 2") of Great Western Railway (GWR) steam locomotive No. 3824 at Swindon Works. Others of this group of photographs date to c1961, but I cannot find a record of this engine being there around this time.

The photo is annotated with "3824 Swindon Wks", unfortunately it has is no date or photographer name.

No. 3824 was a G. Churchward designed '2800 class' 2-8-0 engine, built at the Swindon Works and new to GWR in Sep 1940. The locomotive was withdrawn from service in Jun 1964 then scrapped in February of the following year.
