Liverpool tram No. 891 @ Arkles Ln. in colour

My hand *colourised (if you want to use it please credit me and link to this description) version of an old photograph of Liverpool Corporation Tramways (LCT) tram no 881 showing a 'Private' destination blind. From the amount of people standing around, and the private destination blind, it is an **LRTL (or similar organisation) tour.

The photo reverse is stamped as it having been taken by R. B. Parr, and printed with the date '18 Jun 1950'.

A very clean ‘LRTL’ Excursion Special seen at the top of Arkles Lane with Anfield Road running across.
These tracks were disused by then.
The Arkles pub is to the left." 🚃

Liverpool 881 was built as a streamlined bogie car by LCT at its Edge Lane Works, seating 34/44 and running on EMB light weight bogies. It first went into service Jul 1936, was withdrawn Feb 1954 and then sold to Glasgow Corporation Tramways (GCT). It was numbered 1033 in the GCT fleet and withdrawn by them Mar 1960.

The parts of the Liverpool and Glasgow tramways systems that had not already been withdrawn or transferred to trolleybus/bus operation closed in Sep 1957 and Sep 1962 respectively.

** The LRTL were the Light Railway Transport League which was formed in 1937 and renamed the Light Rail Transit Association (LRTA) in 1979.
