LT trolleybus No. 1248 in Sep 1940 - a photo on Flickriver

An old photograph taken in Leyton, Lea Bridge Road, just east of the 'Bakers Arms' junction, of London Transport (LT) trolleybus No. 1248 (registration EXV248) showing '581 - Bloomsbury via Essex Rd & Lea Bridge Rd' destination indicators.

The photo reverse is stamped with the photographer (and/or negative owner) name of Alan B. Cross, and with the date 07/09/1940.

No. 1248 was new to LT in Mar 1939 comprising a Leyland LPTB70 (TTB4) triple axle chassis No. 300193 and a Leyland body seating 70 (H40/30R). It was taken out of service after stage 10 (25/26 Apr 1961) of trolleybus withdrawals, and in the June was sold to George Cohen & Son of Colindale for scrap.

The parts of the London trolleybus system that had not already been withdrawn or transferred to bus operation closed in May 1962.
