As I awake from my slumber, it’s dark , everything’s blurry and my head hurts like shit. The room reeks of moisture and mildew, you can hear faint droplets of water falling in a bucket or puddle. Squinting with blurry vision looking around the area there’s one lightbulb surrounded by darkness. I can’t see anything beyond the lights radius. I’m restricted can’t move my arms or legs and I’m still trying to figure out where the hell I am and why am I here? Wriggling my shoulders to try and get enough movement space from the tight ropes, feeling around with just the tips of my fingers to see how I’m tied and suddenly there is movement from beyond the darkness….

I freeze in anticipation to see who goes there. The sound of shoes on the cool cement surface and some kind of scraping on the walls. “Fuck” I utter under my breath heart pounding, skin crawling and blood dripping from my head onto my linen suit. The footsteps get closer and the silence breaks. “We have your wife and kid” my heart sank to the pit of my stomach. “They are safe for now but all of that depends on your actions following the request” … What fucking request? I respond. POW as the guy lands a punch to my bruised jaw. “That will be the last time you speak without my asking”. I sat there trying to adjust my jaw that now feels broken paired with a dull ringing in my ear. He continues to explain. ” We took a visit to your home to get the money that you owe us. No money but we found your family. You have 24 hours to get the $500,000 to us or we begin to cut off limbs. We’ll start with fingers until their is nothing left of your precious wife and then your kid. Do you understand?” I understand I responded in a shaky voice. My thoughts at this exact moment is I’m fucking screwed.
