1990 Passport Optima LS

            Now for my 4,000/,4,001 upload.

I thought it looked like a Pontiac LeMans from a distance because of the similar shaped badge in the center. This one was spotted where the Saab 900GLi was found, a repair shop. It only has a few dings but no rust or paint fade. A really decent example. With insurance well into 2014 I see this having possibly a much longer life with how good it looks.  What a find this is for me. Being a very rare Canadian car! 

A few months back I saw what looked like a Pontiac LeMans but maybe it was a Passport Optima in sedan form.  I do remember seeing a Pontiac LeMans hatchback in a parking lot in an apartment that I lived in about 10 years ago. 

The Passport dealership strategy was GM's attempt to group all of its import brands under one roof in Canada. Starting in 1988, Passport sold Isuzu and Saab vehicles, but it also received its own version of the Opel Kadett/Pontiac Le Mans, the Passport Optima. This would also become the Asüna SE/GT. Eventually, Saab and Isuzu were bundled together with Saturn and the Passport name was dropped in 1991. Apparently the Sedan sold less than the hatchback but the hatch had better survival rate. Less than 500 Optimas were registered for road use as of 2012. Sales of the Optima were extremely slow and with relatively low survival rates, the Optima is a rare sight today.

I had a photo uploaded a while back that had a discussion about how many names one platform/design had. This one had quite a few as well.
