Sluyswacht - a photo on Flickriver

Sluyswacht

30/12/2019; A lot of cities in the Holland provinces of the Netherlands are built on a swamp, Amsterdam in that sense is no exception.

The consequence of using 17th century construction techniques on a swamp, is that buildings tend to sink after a couple of centuries, and they don't always tend to sink straight.

As a result, you'll find plenty of crooked buildings in the Amsterdam city center. And Café de Sluyswacht has got to be the most crooked bar of the city.
