ANZAC Square, Brisbane, 1969 - a photo on Flickriver

ANZAC Square, Brisbane, 1969

            One of my father's slides again but this is the first one I've posted from his trip to Australia.

It features ANZAC Square in Brisbane with the central railway station behind. I've posted this full size and I can identify a few British cars here such as the Mini, Austin 1100 and Austin 1800. Any idea on the buses anyone?

The square was constructed in the 1930s to honour all Queenslanders who fought in the World War One, The square contains various memorials and the most important being the Shrine of Remembrance and this image shows the eternal flame alight. My father seems to have taken this from a balcony of one of four buildings that surround the square and were constructed at the same time. These were occupied by both the state and commonwealth so my father's presence there would not be out of place.
