Greater Kudu are the second largest species of African antelope. Mature males have magnificient open-spiraled horns that spread out in a wide V-pattern. The kudu's coat is a red-brown to blue-grey with 6-10 white stripes.

They range throughout central and southern Africa preferring to live in brush-covered plains or rocky hill country. Kudu live in small herds of 10-15 females and their offsprings, led by a single dominant male. These animals are very shy and difficult to approach in the wild. Their large ears and keen eyesight enable them to detect danger from great distances.

Females give birth to a single foal after a 9 month gestation.

- The  longest recorded horns on a kudu were 6ft (180cm) in length.
- Kudu are excellent jumpers, they can leap over 7 feet (210cm) high!
- Kudu are very vocal. They communicate with loud grunts, whines, barks and hums.
