Littlestones-on-Sea - a photo on Flickriver

            So, here I am at Littlestones looking southwest along the deserted beach towards Dungeness with a snow squall  moving east. Today was the last section of the new Kent north to south C-2-C from Faversham and the Swale, across the North Downs, the Vale of Holmesdale, the Greensand Ridge and Romney Marsh to the coast at Littlestones-on-Sea. I have been asked to create a booklet for a number of local heritage centres and see how this goes. 

Today was a matter of navigating open marshland after a few days of rain pinpointing a number of footbridges over dykes and drainage ditches. As it goes did not miss one but like a sore thumb along the length of this walk people have taken it upon themselves to obstruct or in this case unofficially close public footpaths! Ham Lane Farm near Johnson's Corner just south of Hamstreet the new landowner has removed all vestige's of a footpath that should traverse the marshes to Bridge Farm and the road to Kenardington. This leaves a choice, walk along "Death Road" the A2070 or track back for an extra three mile loop detour via Sedbrook, the detour was taken. Apart from this slight setback the walk was awesome.

Nothing quite so refreshing as a walk in real weather, today I had a rather brisk and cold wind, lots of frost and ice and intermmitent snow, the walk ended up as eighteen miles with the detour with a very warm welcome and a couple of rounds bought for me as I arrived covered in mud at the Six Bells at my final destination, Woodchurch.
