Broad-leaved Helleborines. - a photo on Flickriver

            I love these orchids, come the end of the season a new flush of colour and form appears from the woodland floor. I used to go to a site at the bottom of Detling Hill, The Beaches, but last years cycles concentrating on my local patch gave forth the most amazing populations along Belmont Banks that is arguably the best in Kent. I took a short spin out to take a look on how these orchids were doing and very well thank you very much. Most have developed the typical curved flower heads whilst a few have straightened and are trying to open. The next week should bring the first flowers, can't wait!
