Orchis mascula - Overwintering rosette

            The first signs of serious orchid action! A walk a few days ago after a good old winter blow removing all the loose leaves revealed some extra chunky Early Purple Orchid rosettes here in Kent. Always a reliable site here in the bluebell woods I shall be keeping a weather eye on these beauties. Alas this year I have other prioroties so my orchid hunting will be condensed to include only my local sites and maybe a few weekend foray's to the further most corners of Kent, however, not such a hardship as the semi circlular area drawn on a map from the centre of Faversham includes nearly all the Kentish species!
