Antincendio sulla Furka... - a photo on Flickriver

            Siamo in Svizzera, lungo la Dampfbahn Furka-Bergstrecke, ferrovia che collega Oberwald a Realp, lungo il vecchio tracciato montano della linea Furka-Oberalp.
Poco dopo la partenza del primo treno a vapore della giornata, era ripartita, a poca distanza, anche la locomotiva diesel HGm 4/4 61, agganciata ad un piccolo carro antincendio, in modo da seguire il treno a vapore fino a Gletsch.
La presenza del treno antincendio si era resa probabilmente necessaria a causa dei tratti boschivi attraversati dalla ferrovia fino a Gletsch, uniti a un allerta incendi in quei giorni piuttosto elevata per il tutto il Vallese.
Nella foto, il treno antincendio è fotografato poco dopo la partenza da Oberwald, diretto verso Gletsch.

In Switzerland, it is not so common to see diesel trains, as the great majority of railways are electrified. It is not the case, hoewever, for the Dampfbahn Furka-Bergstrecke (DFB) railway, which is opearing, during summer and the beginning of autumn, steam and diesel trains on the historical mountain railway from Realp to Oberwald, which was initially dismissed as the Furka base tunnel was opened in 1982.
The train in this picture, seen near Oberwald, came quite unexpected after the depature of the first steam train in the morning. It was composed by the MGD HGm 4/4 61 diesel locomotive and a small firefighting wagon and it was following the steam train up to Gletsch.
The presence of this firefighting train was probably due, during that days, of a high fire alert in the canton of Valais.
