Il cortile del Podestà e la Torre del Mangia visti dall'interno del Palazzo Comunale, Siena

Il Palazzo Pubblico di Siena (detto anche Palazzo Comunale) è un edificio fatto costruire approssimativamente tra il 1297 e il 1310 dal Governo dei Nove della Repubblica di Siena, come propria sede. Tale funzione si riflette anche oggi, come sede dell'amministrazione comunale, oltre che del Museo civico. Sorge sulla piazza del Campo ed è affiancato dalla snella Torre del Mangia. All'interno conserva capolavori del periodo d'oro dell'arte senese.
Dalla porta prospiciente la Piazza, vicino alla Cappella, si accede al Cortile del Podestà, del 1325, costituito da un elegante colonnato a mattoni su cui si innalza un piano con grandi finestre trifore. Insieme a una serie di stemmi di governatori.

The Palazzo Pubblico of Siena (also called Palazzo Comunale) is a building built approximately between 1297 and 1310 by the Government of the Nine of the Republic of Siena, as its headquarters. This function is also reflected today, as the seat of the municipal administration, as well as of the Civic Museum. It stands on Piazza del Campo and is flanked by the slender Torre del Mangia. Inside it preserves masterpieces from the golden age of Sienese art.
From the door facing the Piazza, near the Chapel, you enter the Cortile del Podestà, dated 1325, consisting of an elegant brick colonnade on which rises a floor with large three-light windows. Along with a series of governor crests.
