Echinopsis bruchii - Gold Rush Cactus 0508

            For your entertainment this evening, the management has decided on the Echinopsis bruchii, a native of Argentina. There are 128 species of this cactus with large showy flowers (usually, but not always white) that just beg to be backlit.

Echinopsis, generally, is a large genus of cacti native to South America, sometimes known as hedgehog cactus, sea-urchin cactus or Easter lily cactus.

Taken at Ruth Bancroft Garden, Walnut Creek, California. This is a dry garden, one that is intended to get homeowners and gardeners in general to plant those plants that use the least amount of water, and/or that are drought tolerant.
