Female Sooty Dancer 3072 - a photo on Flickriver

            [View Large] One of my favorite shots of the summer, this Sooty Dancer showed up three days running on one of two boulders in the stream. She's beautifully and unique in coloration and matches whatever the mineral is that's part of the boulder.  The purple on the abdomen is highlighted thanks to the wings' shadow; pink thanks to the sun and rocks; blue because she's got blue marking and eyes.

Had to crop severely. She's about 30mm and taken at 12 feet or so, but the clarity was maintained with high speed and "low" ISO, all things I learned this summer. 

I haven't seen another Dancer in the past two weeks...
