First South Yorkshire 63040 - a photo on Flickriver

            The southern terminus of urban service 97 is situated half a mile south of Totley at Gillfield Wood on the edge of the Peak District. The terminus was constructed in 2009 after the landlord of the Cross Scythes pub where the bus used to turn decided to use the space as a car park instead. It has not been without controversy, chiefly generated by the installation of streetlights along the A621 on safety grounds. These were later deemed unsuitable for a location so close to a national park and removed.

Streetlite LK62HKG (63040) is seen heading away from Gillfield Wood with the 07:12 to Hillsborough. The bus is also notable, at least as Streetlites go, having been one of the four pioneers of the type in the First fleet nationwide. One of these was new to South Yorkshire, with the other three later migrating there having been new to other operations, Manchester in the case of 63040. All four were operated by Rotherham depot until its closure in early 2017, after which point they have been allocated to Olive Grove. 63040 retains Rotherham fleetnames above to door.
