This was taken Wednesday 10 February about 2 miles from home in Pagham on the South Coast of England. For this last week it has been exceptionally cold for this area with daytime rarely getting much above freezing and night down to -6C. Northern Scotland got down to -23 the coldest in 25 years. This effect occurs around freezing due to Cars coming by and splashing the liquid water over the hedge which later freezes encasing the vegetation in icicles. Taken during a bicycle ride which made the picture feasible because there is nowhere to park a car.

The picture was taken handheld with a Sony A550 with a Sigma 10-20mm lens at 15 mm. I took 3 shots for HDR processed in Photomatix using tone balancer for a more natural look. In Photoshop I used Topaz Clarity plugin for more detail and brightness adjustments with adjustment layers with layer masks.
