Pompeya fue una ciudad de la antigua Roma que quedó sepultada por la gran erupción del Vesubio en el año 79 d.C.

Al ser sepultada con tanta violencia y de forma repentina, la ciudad presenta un estado de conservación inmejorable, mostrando la mayoría de sus edificios, elementos decorativos, e incluso los restos de algunos de sus habitantes.
