Tales from the borders - 1 [explored on 2021/06/21]

Dear friends, I am living a long ebb tide time and my bodily and emotional strenghts are rather limited. I am deeply aware that I am not keeping up with any of my Flickr friends, and I am deeply sorry for this. On the other hand, I feel so drained that I have no real comments to contribute. No contribute at all.

I am currently (and at a really slow pace) processing some photos as a therapy for my mind and soul, and I am posting this one just hoping that you will enjoy it.

My wife and I had a brief vacation at the Cinque Terre, the place of our honeymoon. Sweet memories resonating with our souls and with our present. I realised that I did not really remember that sea, so I tried to capture it. I am planning to post a series named "Tales from the borders", featuring the fascinating world at the boundary between the rocks and the sea - the two natural elements that have moulded those renowned villages and the lives of generations upon generations of their dwellers.

This is the cliff upon which the remains of the Doria castle (15. century) stand, at Vernazza. The Doria were the most powerful family in Genova and the castle was built to protect that fishing village from the raids of the pirates.

I have processed a single shot with Darktable and then by luminosity masks with the Gimp. Some touches of final varnish with Color Efex.
