Bitter cold joy - a photo on Flickriver

Bitter cold joy

            The great thing about shooting sunrise in winter is that you don't really need to get up early. So I set my alarm to 0600 and by 07:20 we were at the top of this small sandstone mountain right in time for blue hour.

The bad thing about shooting sunrise in winter is that it tends to be cold, especially if there is snow. Now today was about -15°C (5°F) and waiting for about an hour or two always results in cold hand and feet. At least there was not much wind.

To be prepared I mounted my Filters (in this case reverse GND) on all lenses before leafing so I only hat to mount the lenses to my Body - a task that can be accomplished even with thick gloves. When we arrived (blue hour photos will be following later on) we weren't sure how the clouds will move and were a bit skeptical therefore. But once the sun was up I was quite sure that this sunrise could not have turned out any better! Do you agree?
