The New Neighbors

            Birdweb's chart does not have any listing for these birds in my region. They first appeared (briefly) in the yard in spring 2018. They didn't come back again until spring 2023, but they didn't stick around too long that year either. They reappeared in spring 2024 in greater numbers and have been here ever since, still sticking it out in winter 2025 as temperatures dance around freezing. So, I think it's fair to say that they're permanent residents now, and not just unexpected visitors. Lesser goldfinch, backyard Olympia.
