Westbound Royal Blue Line Train At Cranford, NJ

            A westbound B&O passenger train approaches the station at Cranford, NJ sometime in April 1958-the final month of B&O passenger operations east of Baltimore, MD. This Kodachrome has no date or any other information given save for the processing date and the photographer's name-Alexander G Melen which is actually stamped as Alexander Gmelen. Using Google Earth, I found the location which is the CNJ railroad's bridge over Rahway River and Centennial Ave. The photographer was most likely shooting from the eastbound platform of the Cranford Station. In the distance can be seen the newly built Garden State Parkway overpass and the Lehigh Valley's bridge over th CNJ main at Aldene, NJ, as well as another train-possibly a CNJ freight-waiting for it's turn here at the interlocking. Most likely, once the B&O train is clear, the freight will get the light to cross over to the far main and proceed west.
