Happy New Year San Francisco - a photo on Flickriver

This image is the result of a very memorable and enjoyable seven hours on Yerba Buena Island. From the moment I parked my car, I started to make new friends. At about 7:00pm, we found one of the popular viewpoints to photograph this scene. By the time the fireworks started there must have been a hundred photographers up on the hill where we stood high above Bay Bridge. The five hours waiting for the fireworks to start passed by quickly as we all spent the time discussing photography techniques. I believe Nicholas Steinberg who is a very talented photographer, was the only one in the group who is currently on Flickr.

I was anxious to review the images I had captured when I returned home the following day. I looked at several images while trying to decide which one of them I would process. Eventually, I chose four of the images and blended elements from each to create one master image file.

I used Capture One to process this image. In particular, the Highlight, Shadow, Levels and Keystone Correction tools were invaluable. Finally, I used Photoshop to sharpen the image file.
