Magical Marmo Glow

            Early morning at Lake Marmo at the Morton Arboretum can be magical. And this day the magic was turned up to 11.

I was able to get to Marmo shortly after a cloudless sunrise, and although the trees were a bit past peak, the leaves on the ground and in the water were still amazing!

It took me a while to find this particular view - with the stunning, glowing, floating leaves, the dark, barren tree counter point reflection in the lake, and the maples leaves still hanging on in the foreground.

For this day, I had decided to concentrate on using my vintage, almost 30 year old 80-200mm f/2.8D lens, and see what kind of bokeh I could coax out of it. And I have to say, the results were surprising to me - very nice to my eye! The color rendering - amazing! What do you think? 

I did no Orton type effect enhancements at all - this was the rendering straight from the lens. Wow.

This lens is heavy, and has no tripod foot, which makes the setup very front end heavy - awkward to carry around on my strap, or mount on my tripod. When setting up on the tripod, I have to frame above where I want the composition to be because when I tighten the ballhead, I know it will droop some...! haha

I am sorry I haven't posted more recently, but hopefully will do more now. I hope you are safe and well, and surviving in these difficult times.
