Los murales del Huarinilla - a photo on Flickriver

La cuenca del río Huarinilla fue estudiada mediante el análisis de registros de ocho estaciones pluviométricas instaladas a partir de 1995. Esta cuenca está situada en la falda oriental de la cordillera de Los Andes entre los 5.600 y 1.100 m. Forma parte de la región de Los Yungas y es en su mayor parte área protegida. Por lo corto del periodo de registro y con el objeto de inferir el comportamiento a largo plazo, se realizó un análisis estadístico usando una estación próxima a la cuenca, que cuenta con un periodo de registro mucho más largo. Los resultados indican que la precipitación supera los 3.000 mm/año en la mayor parte de la región de bosque nublado, con lluvias continuas y de intensidad moderada.
