(Sorry about my absence, I was supposed to be away for a few days - but my Internet provider decided to fail for me some additional days. But now everything is up and running and I can return to posting my photos...)

Night view of Trajan's market, located on Trajan's forum, one of the imperial fora in Rome. The whole place (marked and forum) was built circa 106-112 for the emperor possibly by  Apollodorus of Damascus. But it is actually possible that work on the Forum began already under emperor Domitian (who died in 96). The exact function of the place is actually not completely clear, it has been seen as the world's first shopping mall, but it would now seem that most of it was used for imperial administration. There were shops here, but mostly on the back-streets.

The tower that can be seen to the left is the Torre delle Milizie (lit. Tower of the Militia). It was before also known as the Tower of Nero - it was thought that Nero watched the fire of Rome from there. But actually the tower is medieval and was constructed around 1200.
